Kleeneze distributors encourage shoppers to ‘keep it local’ this christmas
With many small businesses facing tough competition over the festive season from the major supermarkets and online retailers, Kleeneze distributors up and down the country are supporting Kleeneze’s new campaign to get shoppers spending in the local community this Christmas.
Kleeneze distributors from across the UK are linking up with other independent businesses from their local area to create a leaflet which gives residents information about special offers they can benefit from or put together a hamper which showcases the products and services available locally.
The leaflets are being given out by the distributors to their customers and the hampers filled with local produce are to be auctioned off in aid of charity.
Jamie Stewart, managing director of Kleeneze, said: “Christmas used to be a booming time for small businesses but in recent years they have been increasingly out-priced and overwhelmed by the dominance of the major supermarkets and large retail chains.
“We believe it’s important to shop locally for a variety of reasons. Every £1 spent with a local supplier keeps £1.76* in the local economy, and shopping locally also helps to maintain your area’s character and promotes fewer and shorter car journeys, reducing CO2 emissions for cars.
”This year, we’re encouraging our distributors to highlight the fantastic businesses and independent traders who serve their local community by coordinating a leaflet or hamper; as they visit homes in the area delivering catalogues, they’re ideally placed to spread the word.”
